From organizing projects to automating processes, we are the operating system for how teams get things done. That's why I am excited to announce that we're releasing new features to help your team get started quickly, automate and simplify essential processes, and save valuable time.
Today’s feature launch is about doubling down on removing the barriers that keeps your team from moving forward. Here’s what you can start using right now:
- Board templates: Alleviate the anxiety of getting new projects started—that “blank page” paralysis—by introducing team board templates for Business Class and Enterprise. Team created templates serve as a blueprint for success for your team to get started with any project.
- Community template gallery: From roadmaps to road trips, there’s a template for that! We’ve got tried-and-true templates from Wired, 3M, InVision, Skyscanner, Salesforce Essentials, Indeed and the rest of the Trello community. Copy, customize, and you’ll be collaborating in no time!
- Card templates: Copyable card templates are here to help you create consistent processes on boards and shorten the time from “to do” to “doing.”
- Automation for all: We're removing tedious tasks from everyone's to-do lists by making automation with Butler core to every single Trello board, because teams should be able to focus on the work that matters most.
- Suggested Actions: And, we’re bringing more powerful AI and machine learning to Trello with brand new Suggested Actions that will learn your most common actions on a board and suggest them at the right moments to help you work faster.
We’re leaning into the vision of keeping Trello straightforward and intuitive. That means taking a holistic view as we continue to build Trello, and putting what your team needs to be successful everyday at the forefront of how we innovate.

Community Template Gallery
To showcase the amazing ways that people across every industry around the world use Trello, we’ve created a brand new community template gallery that is full of boards sourced from the Trello community. Now, Trello users can share how they use Trello and inspire new ways of using Trello to accomplish any of life’s projects.
We’ve already got featured templates from:
- Zoho
- Litmus
- UNICEF
- United Nations
- Grand Hyatt
- GetYourGuide
- Plus many others.
Say goodbye to blank boards and the uncertainty of getting started by creating a board directly from our curated gallery built-in to Trello.
Board Templates
Any person using Trello will be able to make public board templates to help others understand use-cases and discover best practices. We also know that many teams rely on a codified process to get work done and need to be able to create consistent workflows within their team.
Team board templates for Business Class and Enterprise customers are here so that teams don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time they use Trello when onboarding a new hire or planning a product launch plan.
Once the ideal workflow has been mastered, the team can make it a template and that next big project or recurring event will be as simple as copy and go!
Card Templates
Doubling down on the value of templates, we’ve also added card templates, which are now available to all Trello users.
Card templates allow teams to standardize cards on their boards, building a seamlessly repeatable workflow. Now, when requests are made to Design teams, pitches are made to Editorial teams, or features are scoped by Product teams, those tasks and requests can be formalized with card templates to make sure no important detail is left behind.
Automation: Now Built Into Every Trello Board
Every month millions of commands are being run with Butler, saving teams countless clicks and giving them time back to focus on the work that really matters.
We want to make it as easy as possible to remove any barriers to productivity—and that includes wasting time on tasks that a robot could do. We’ve seen how successful Butler has made teams through the power of no-code automation, and we want to give every single Trello user access to that power.
Starting now, Butler automation is a core feature available to everyone using Trello, which means you don't need to enable a Power-Up to use it.
We’ve also redesigned the Butler interface for clarity and ease-of-use, as well as improved Butler’s recommendations so that you can get started with Butler on your boards even faster.
Go ahead and click Butler in any board's menu and start building powerful rules, buttons, and commands to automate your tedious tasks, today.
Suggested Actions
Taking automation and AI one step further, we’ve built Suggested Actions in Trello. They incorporate machine learning to understand your most frequent actions on a board.
Trello will then suggest these specific actions right when you need them most, saving you time and mental energy. Trello will get to know your specific way of using the app and you may see suggested actions for things like:
- Adding members you frequently add
- Adding labels used in your workflow
- Adding checklists that are often copied
- Moving cards to specific lists, and more!
We plan on continually improving the AI behind Suggested Actions to make them even smarter and more relevant to your unique tasks.
Post-Its® + Trello = ❤️
Some things just work better together. That’s why we are psyched to collaborate with 3M on their Post-it® App integration with Trello. The app lets you start on paper by brainstorming with Post-it® Notes IRL, then transfers your analog ideas into Trello by snapping a picture, so your team can keep the ideas flowing, digitally.
